Matthew MlolwaAlmost every time I go to the TAS office, Matthew is there. Matthew is a student at secondary school. Until recently a priest from the Holy Ghost order was sponsoring him to go to school. His sponsor died and so Matthew is without funding. Matthew has 4 months to go to complete secondary school. His fees are paid, but, his problem is that his accommodation in a hostel costs 60,000 TSH a month (approx $50 USD) TAS paid for his accommodation last month, but, this month say they do not have the funds. Since he couldn’t pay this month, the hostel forced him to move out. Since then Matthew has been staying with friends as a temporary solution, but, has fallen behind classes since he’s at TAS pretty much every day seeking assistance. Matthew says he very much wants to continue schooling and further education. He firmly believes that education is the solution toward a better future for Tanzanians in general, and Albinos in particular. He believes that the only way for albinos to become part of society is to be self- sufficient, and the only way to achieve that is through education. |
